Australian Canoeing announced today that Guy Wilding has resigned from his coaching position with the New South Wales Institute of Sport program to take up a coaching position overseas through to the London 2012 Olympics.
Coaching at Narrabeen Lake on Sydney Northern Beaches, Wilding has achieved national and international success with his squad of NSWIS athletes and was honoured as the Australian Canoeing Coach of the Year in 2009.
AC CEO, Greg Doyle, said: “Guy has made a significant contribution to athlete development in NSW and to the performance of Australian national sprint teams. He leaves behind a strong squad of athletes with great potential and we wish him well in his new challenges.”
Wilding will see out the rest of the domestic season in Australia supporting his NSWIS squad through the Oceania championships and Grand Prix Regatta next weekend and the Australian national championships in March.
National Performance Director, Richard Fox, confirmed that Australian Canoeing and the New South Wales Institute of Sport would seek a replacement coach to commence in April 2010.
