Fabian Lefevre
Sam Lyons, Saturday, 6 February 2010

Dual World Champion and Olympic Medalist Fabian Lefevre with his C2 partner Denis Gargaud Chanut one three out of three male classes on Day 1 of competition at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

It was a wet day in Penrith but the course provided very close racing.

The biggest winning margin was only 2.8 seconds.

In the WK1 and WC1, AIS and Australian Team Members Sarah Grant and Ros Lawrence carried the day but there will be plenty of paddlers who will be ruing missed opportunities and will be looking to make up for it tomorrow.

Oceania Champion, Will Forsythe, will be competing in tomorrows race and will be leading the Australian charge in the K1M while Kynan Maley and Robbie Jeffery who were second today iin the C2 will be looking to overhall Lefevre and Gargaud Chanut who are currently ranked inside the World's Top 10.

Maley has only been back in the boat for a week following return from knee injury and he was just happy to have made it down the course.

"I did a competitive session this morning and I just died on the half way through!" Maley said

"I was just happy to make it down the course this evening and hopefully we can build on this good result"

Racing start at 4.30pm on Sunday at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.
